We've got a date!
This is what happened. Somewhere during CNY, we went to the medium to ask for a wedding date. She said to come back after Cheng Beng, because that was the most appropriate time for us. (I don't know whether it's because she felt one of us wasn't yet ready to be married).
Anyway, so after Cheng Beng, on April 15th we went to see her. She says we should get married at the end of the year. Reason : He's 29 this year and I'll be 29 next year (Chinese ages). Apparently, 29 is not a good year to be holding big events, the year needs to be passed in a low-profile kinda way. So, since we want to get married, she says it's best we hold the wedding at an "in-between" period i.e. at the end of his 29 and at the beginning of my 29. So that leaves end of this year lor. And because my very good friend is having a wedding on Nov 11, I informed the lady to pick a weekend date anytime after that.
After flipping thru the calendar from Nov 12 to Dec, she finally proclaimed we only had ONE suitable date, November 17! Yippee, I was so glad to have a date :)
So we started the search for a venue. (Parents did some calculations and we'll probably be hosting about 40-50 tables). Ah, the search for the venue. The ever-so-elusive venue. I'm still working on this and it justifies an entire long entry. Suffice to say that about half of Malaysia is getting married on that weekend.
But, oh, before we got a date ah, we actually booked a bridal studio package already! We booked that on April 14th at the 1 Utama wedding fair. RM3188 at Love Vision Studio SS2. I'll type out the package details when I have it near me at the computer next time ;) But I'm super glad with the package we signed - it's got everything I want.
There's about a million things I want to do now. But first - secure the venue. I'll write about that later.
